Finding His way

Parker Steele Sherry is not a tall quarterback, a fact he says he is reminded of constantly by coaches, recruiters, and reporters. Parker accepts that he can’t change his height. But he can, and does, put in 110% every day to be the best quarterback he can be. This effort has led to eight school and two district records in the sport, along with interest from several Division I schools.

Hard work and determination define everything Parker does both on and off the field. He’s president and valedictorian of his class, plays basketball and run’s track & field in addition to football, spends long hours helping on his family’s farm, and still finds time to volunteer to serve others, including working with students with special needs. He draws inspiration from retired NFL player Merrill Hoge’s mantra, “Find a Way,” and Seattle Seahawk quarterback Russell Wilson’s work to change the way shorter quarterbacks are viewed. And, he counts his blessings. He credits much of his drive to succeed to the support of his family, friends, and community.

While Parker’s extensive list of accolades is nothing less than impressive, he’s most proud of earning the MaxPreps Semper Fidelis Athlete of the Month award presented by the Marines in December 2017. For Parker, the award solidified the importance of being well-rounded and finding ways to prioritize and excel in academics, athletics, and community service. “I am determined to continue to showcase my ability through my hard work, determination, and leadership on, and off the football field,” he says. That attitude will take him further than height alone ever could.
