For the all-state running back who refuses to be outworked, ‘good enough’ is never an option.
It’s nearly impossible to catch Euler De Leon taking a break. He’s wired to give 110% to every effort, whether it’s acing a test, rushing for a touchdown, setting new school records in weightlifting and track and field, or collecting items for a community food drive. He understands that athletic and academic competition in his community and around the nation is fierce. And he is resolved to putting in the extraordinary effort to always stay at the head of his game and set the example for his schoolmates and community.
It’s this mindset that helped Euler overcome a hematoma injury discovered during his junior year. Two games into the football season, he realized he couldn’t bend his leg. Instead of being discouraged, he put in the effort to heal as quickly as possible. “I worked on my injury steadily, awaiting my comeback as if it were Christmas morning,” he recalls. And he got the gift he was hoping for: his leg improved in time for district and he finished his junior season with All-District and All-Area Honors. Instead of lamenting the playing time he missed during the season, he turned his focus to preparing for a breakout senior year.
When Euler isn’t working hard in the classroom or on the field, he’s stepping up to help others. He serves as president of his class and his school’s chapter of the National Honor Society. He takes an active role in many school and community activities. And he volunteers as a Sunday school caregiver in his church. With each experience, he gains insights he leverages to further improve his own character and performance. Last summer, he attended Texas Boys State and took the opportunity to learn from the other distinguished and accomplished students he met. “This experience was a period of growth for me, and I found myself more motivated than ever to become to best version of myself.”
“How I do anything is how I´ll do everything.”
