Davis Dubbert

His competitive nature drives him to be number one in all that he does.

Davis Dubbert loves to compete. Whether it’s on the basketball court, football field, track, or golf course, he is compelled to be number one. That competitive streak extends to the classroom, too, where he’s never satisfied with a poor mark. His penchant to be the best at whatever he does led him to set records in two different sports and to compete at the state level in two others, all while solidifying his spot as valedictorian of his class.

When something stands in the way of Davis’ success, he doesn’t give up. Instead, he just works harder. As a freshman, he believed he deserved a spot on the varsity basketball roster. But the team was already stacked with talented upperclassmen. Still, Davis believed he belonged on that team, and he put in the hard work to prove it. He ended up earning his spot, and he was standing on the court when the clock expired and the team won its first–ever state championship. As the fourth leading scorer and third leading rebounder in the game, Davis played a critical role in securing that landmark victory for his school.

Even with his fiery competitive nature, Davis knows there are things in life that are more important than athletics. While he’s always competed in multiple sports, he chose to give up baseball and golf so he could focus on his college plans and spend more time serving his community. He volunteers as a tutor, and he is active in Prayer & Action, an organization that helps seniors in low-income neighborhoods. Davis has realized that as gratifying as it is to clinch a victory in the final seconds of a game, it’s equally as satisfying to do his part to help people in need.
