Alek Parsons

Ogden High School
Ogden, Utah

Natural talent is key. But being his best takes complete heart and soul.

Alek Parsons dreams of being a professional runner. And he’s off to a great start. As an all-state athlete in both cross country and track and field, and the owner of two school records, he has more than his fair share of natural talent. But he knows that talent can only take a person so far. Watching his upper classmen teammates has taught him that to be the best athletically and academically, you have to commit 100 percent to the effort and give everything you’ve got. Every day, Alek works hard to make the most of his gifts, and it’s getting him ever closer to his dreams.

Just as his upper classmen teammates influenced him, Alek is dedicated to making an impact on the under classmen runners at his school. He took on the role of captain of his cross country team and has used his leadership position as a platform to encourage and support his teammates. He believes that in running, results are directly correlated to the effort the runner puts in. He’s made it his mission to demonstrate the value of hard work and perseverance on the race course.

These same traits help Alek succeed in the classroom and in his other endeavors, including playing the trumpet and being a champion whistler. By fully committing to whatever he does in life, Alek knows he can reach his goals while beating a path for other committed athletes and students to follow.
