SCHOLARSHIP RULES
  1. Heisman High School Scholarships will be awarded to State Winners, National Finalists and National Winners. All scholarship winners must meet all the rules of the Heisman High School Scholarship application process.
  2. Scholarship winners can attend any accredited college or university in the United States. The scholarship is not restricted to any specific institution.
  3. Scholarship winners must plan to be enrolled full time (a minimum of 12 hours per semester or quarter) for the entire 2023-2024 academic year.
  4. Scholarships are not renewable and are for one year only.
  5. Scholarship funds may only be used toward educational expense: tuition, books and fees.
  6. The one-time award stipend will be paid in one installment for a full academic year. The check will be issued to the college/university and mailed directly to the student at the beginning of the support period. The student will be responsible for forwarding the check to their college/university.
  7. Other awards may be accepted by scholarship recipients of the Heisman High School Scholarship. There will ordinarily be no objection to the acceptance of additional awards.
  8. If the recipient does not enroll for the 2023-2024 academic year, the unused portion of the funds will be forfeited. Any funds forfeited will be returned to the Heisman High School Scholarship program.
  9. Exceptions may be considered on an individual basis if the forfeiture stems from illness, hardship, family tragedy, or similar reasons and is solely the decision of the Heisman High School Scholarship program.
  10. The Heisman High School Scholarship program reserves the right to alter scholarship funds distribution as needed.
  11. Should a scholarship recipient choose to delay schooling and pursue military service, funds may be deferred for educational use at later time. Requests must be made in writing to the Heisman High School Scholarship program (email is acceptable), must detail the time period of deferral and must be approved in advance. All deferral requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Heisman High School Scholarship program.

APPLICATION RULES

About The Program

The Heisman High School Scholarship continues a 28-year tradition of honoring high school seniors who accomplish tremendous feats in the classroom, on the field, and most importantly, within their communities. The scholarship recognizes and rewards both male and female high school athletes who are community-minded and driven to use their exceptional talents for the benefit of all.

 

Criteria For Application

  1. Students whose senior year of high school is the 2022–2023 academic year, graduating with the class of 2023.
  2. Students who have at least a weighted “B” grade average (3.0 GPA) during grades 9, 10, and 11.
  3. Students who participate in at least one of the sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations.
  4. Students who have participated in volunteer service, community involvement or leadership within his/her school or community.
  5. Students who are a resident of one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia (D.C.).

 

The Application Process

  1. When the application is open, a student may begin the application process by clicking “Apply Now” in the header of the website to be redirected to the application website.
  2. Students will enter their email address and be prompted to provide some basic account information and create a username and password for their application.
  3. If deemed eligible, students should then select “Begin Application” to complete the rest of the student profile section.
  4. Once a complete profile is created, the student’s unique application ID will appear at the top of his/her application by their name. It is important to retain this number for prospective customer service inquires.
  5. Eligible students may then continue to fill out the application. The application is scored by Scholarship America to determine school winners through national finalists. National Winners are selected by a committee who reviews the National Finalist applications.
  6. Students may navigate the various sections of the application using tabs located at the top of the application after the student profile is created. If the student misses a required section, he/she will receive an error message and will not be able to submit their application until the required information is entered.
  7. Students must provide an accurate email address of the school official who will login to review the application and its contents, and confirm its accuracy. This school official cannot be related nor a parent/guardian of the student.
  8. Students may login to their accounts as often as needed prior to the student application deadline, or until their application has been submitted. Students will need to retain their username and password to login again.

 

Deadlines

  1. We encourage students to submit their application as early as possible to allow time for the school official to review it for accuracy.
  2. Students must submit their application by October 18, 2022 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET.
  3. The application must be reviewed and submitted by the school official listed in the application by October 20, 2022 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET.

 

Important Reminders

  1. Students must retain their username and password until their application has been accepted.
  2. Students and reviewers are encouraged to log out whenever they leave the computer.
  3. Be assured: Students and reviewers personal, private information will not be shared with anyone outside of the Heisman High School Scholarship program and selection committee.

One of the common oversights is failure to submit prior to the deadline. The student’s application must be submitted NO LATER THAN October 18, 2022 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET.

Reviewers must submit their review NO LATER THAN October 20, 2022 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET in order for applications to be considered.

Results will be posted online at www.heismanscholarship.com.
